Jose Luis Gonzalez Jr, 21, of Avondale, passed away January 22, 2016 in Goodyear.  He was born on April 25, 1994, in Phoenix, to Jose & Karla Gonzalez.  Luis graduated from La Jolla High School in Avondale.

Luis was a very good man, and the size of his heart and his infectious soft smile made up for any shortcomings he may have had.  He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, others would listen just knowing that the entertainment was about to begin. Luis was a proud man, but was also quick to admit his wrongs or faults. That’s why everyone loved him so much.  He was a simple, kind guy that was quick to help anyone by spending time and giving of what he had, and what he could. Luis loved to eat at Zamora’s, he would eat 2 carne asada burritos, with extra carne asada. He could also devour a sushi “BOAT”, all by himself. This is what made Luis so entertaining.  He was good with being himself around anyone. Luis’s legacy is to love yourself, live life, take it to the edge and do it like there’s no tomorrow.

Luis is survived by his parents, Jose & Karla; 1 sister, Jessica; 2 brothers, Pablo and Daniel; grandparents, Cruz Olivia Marquez, Rosa & Porfirio Gonzalez; his girlfriend, Emily; and numerous friends, colleagues, and will be remembered by all who crossed his path.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 28 from 4:00pm-9:00pm at Avenidas Funeral Chapel, located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale.  A Funeral Mass will celebrated on Friday, January 29 at 10:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, located at 539 East La Pasada Boulevard in Goodyear.  A procession to his final resting place will follow the Mass to Holy Cross Cemetery, located at 10045 West Thomas Road in Avondale.

Please feel free to share your condolences with the family and also your thoughts with friends. Perhaps a short funny moment or cherished time you spent with this loved family member who will sorely be missed and forever remembered.

  1. I never post usually, but this has to be one of the hardest goodbyes of anyone we helped. This was a kid no one could forget....his infectious smile and dumb look as you explained something to him....wow, goodbye dear Luis....you will be missed.

  4. I will cherish the memories we had together, we first met in the gym years back, and then ended both working with Avenidas. He was a great person with a big heart and an even bigger stomach. I will miss you Luis...

  5. My deepest sympathy to the Gonzalez family for the loss of Jose. May the promises from our Heavenly Father bring comfort to your hearts. In God's word the Bible, at John 5:28-29 it is promised
"...the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out..." and at Psalms 37:11 it is promised "The meek will possess the earth, they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." These promises are assured by God's love for all those we have lost. Mrs. Karla, please put faith in them, God can not lie so they will all come true.(Titus 1:2) Remember that love is always stronger than death, because 'God IS love'. (1John 4:8) (Psalms 83:18)
