Rebecca Garcia-Loper, 56, of Avondale, lost her battle to Glioblastoma on November 18, 2013 in Goodyear, Arizona.  Rebecca was born on October 17, 1957 in Lubbock, Texas to Ernesto and Clara Garcia.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Philip G. Loper; 2 sons, Andrew I. Mendoza and Tristan Loper; her parents, Ernesto and Clara Garcia; 3 sisters, Rachel Garcia, Teresa Cullison, and Elizabeth Morgan; 1 brother, Ernesto Garcia, Jr.; and 2 grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Merilee Rae Mendoza.

Rebecca was baptized in the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith in Jesus Christ.  She allowed her strong faith to guide her.  Becky was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend.  The eldest sibling, she was a natural born leader.  She always gave more of herself than she asked in return.  She devoted her life to her family, friends, and her work.  She was a 22 year employee of Roadway/YRC Inc.  She was a proud union member and steward.  She volunteered with Citizens for a Better Arizona, the ACLU, and the NAACP.  She was brilliant, quick-witted, original, had the best sense of humor and loved to sing.  She loved her yearly vacations to Rocky Point with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, from 5:30pm-7:00pm, at Avenidas Funeral Chapel located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale.
