Elida “Lydia” Muñoz, 69, of Avondale, passed away on November 17, 2013 in Glendale, Arizona.  Lydia was born on November 28, 1946 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Juan and Casimira Leos.

 

Lydia is survived by her husband, Socorro R. Muñoz, Jr.; 3 daughters, Lydia Muñoz, Tammy Amavisca, and Lisa Rodriguez; 1 son, Christopher Muñoz; 2 sisters, Gloria Rivera and Kathy Resendez; 2 brothers, Roy Leos and Rick Leos; 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Casimira Leos; her daughter, Kathy J. Muñoz; her sister, Eleanor Portillo, and 2 brothers, Johnny and Joe Leos.

 

Lydia was a loving wife and mother.  She was a great counselor and very protective of her family.  Lydia was very generous and had a big heart.

 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Avenidas Funeral Chapel located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale.  A rosary will be recited during the visitation starting at 6:00pm.  Funeral Mass will held on Friday, November 22, at 9:00am at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, located at 320 North 20th Drive in Phoenix.  Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, located at 2300 West Van Buren Street in Phoenix.
