Raul Rivera Rodriguez, 85, of Avondale, passed away on March 1, 2013. Raul was born May 8, 1927 in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico to Mesias Rodriguez and Joba Rivera.  He moved to Arizona 70 years ago, and was a farm laborer.
 
Raul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Imelda Rodriguez; his 3 daughters, Grace Perez, Rosa Hernandez, and Gloria Flores; his 6 sons, Cel, Raul, Rene, Eddie, Jaime, and Hector Rodriguez; 1 sister, Manuela Rodriguez; 27 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
 
Raul was a parishioner at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.  He was the most caring and loving father, and he was also a hardworking man who always took care of his family.  Raul motivated his children to work hard for what they wanted.
 
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Avenidas Funeral Chapel located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale.  A rosary will be recited at 6:00pm.  A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 8, at 10:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church located at 539 East La Pasada Boulevard in Goodyear.  A procession to his final resting place at Goodyear Farms Historic Cemetery, located at 3000 North Santa Fe Trail in Avondale, will follow the Mass.

  1. I want to express my sympathy to the family. It's so hard when your loved ones die. What helped me to get thru it was the Bible hope of a resurrection to a beautiful paradise earth in the best of conditions. Here is what John 5:28,29 says about the hope of resurrection: "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out,..."
