Robert Dominguez Salais, 75, of
Phoenix, Arizona quietly continued on in his journey with the guidance of his Lord
in his hand on December 05, 2012 in Phoenix. He was surrounded by his loving
family and with his wife at his side. Robert met Rosie early on in his life and
from the day they met, he knew she was the one for him. A month after meeting
her, they were married and have lived and loved a very rewarding and caring
life with each other. He always made it a point to place Rosie above all else,
to include himself trying to never let her know of any discomforts in his life.
Robert was born on December 24, 1936 in McNary, Arizona to Luarda Dominguez and Phillip Salais.
Robert worked in sales early on
in his career and then transferred to lumber were he quickly was promoted to
the position of foreman in the industry until his retirement in 1989. He was a hardworking
man that would always go the extra mile to ensure his family was not without. He
was a firm provider with a kind heart.
One of his passions was camping,
where he always said it was not a true camping trip without the entire family, so just about every time he went, it was with
the whole family. Robert also had a
great deal of fun in Laughlin, where he enjoyed going not just to pass a few
dollars over the table, but also because of the river and it being a great place
for family. As he did with camping, he also enjoyed bringing the family along.
Come to think of it, there was seldom a traveling event that he did not insist
that all the family come along for he was a true family man that always
instilled in his family that “Family” (Familia) should always come first.
Because of his devotion for his family, it is with this strong devotion that he
earned his place as the Patriarch of the family, and this position will be difficult
to fill now that he has moved on in his journey.
Robert is survived by his loving
and charming wife Rosie, of 56 years; 3 daughters, Joanna (Frank) Lopez, Diana
(Johnny) Marquez and Tina (Vincent) Sanchez; one son Robert Jr. (Lupita) Salais;
14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Robert
(our Dad) will be greatly missed by all who knew him, he is loved by so, so many
and has touched many lives on this journey on earth.
A visitation will be held on
Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 9:00am, with mass following at 10:30am, both to
be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church located at 539 E. La Pasada Blvd. in
Goodyear.
Robert will be laid to his
eternal rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale, Arizona following an escorted
procession from the church.
