Rosa Alvarez Holguin, 72, of Avondale passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on May 4, 2011. She was born September 4, 1938, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Tomas and Maria Alvarez. Rosa was an active homemaker who invested much in the raising of their children and upkeep of her little home, and was a longtime resident of Cashion. She was a very active parishioner of St. Williams Catholic Church of Cashion and was also a member in the church choir. Rosa loved to cook for her most appreciative family, who so enjoyed their mother’s food. She couldn’t wait for the opportunity for an invite to see her Arizona Diamondbacks play.
Rosa is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesus, and her 5 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her 5 daughters, Rosa Maria, Elvia Patricia, Nora Elena, Christina Yvonne, and Veronica Isela; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, May 9, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at St. Williams Catholic Church in Cashion. Service will be Tuesday, May 10 at 10:00am, also at St. Williams Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale. Services will be officiated by Father Mario Garcia-Icedo. A reception on behalf of Rosa's family will take place following interment at St. Williams Catholic Church Reception Hall.
Rosa leaves behind many friends in the small town of Cashion that she lived for so many years. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by many.
