Sylvia Folks, 45, of Avondale, passed away on March 2, 2017 at home after a long battle with cancer.  She was born on May 18, 1971 in Phoenix to L.T. & Mary Folks.  Sylvia worked for the City of Avondale for 28 years.  Ever since high school.  She loved her job and she loved her co-workers.  She treated them like they were her family.

Sylvia was always a strong minded, independent person.

She ALWAYS did everything for everybody else and never wanted anything in return.  If she had it, she gave it to you.  No questions asked.

Sylvia’s favorite saying was “Live, Love, Laugh”, and that’s what she lived by.

She loved everybody and put a smile on everybody’s face.  She always kept it real with you no matter what.  Whether you wanted to hear it or not!

She was loved by so many people and she will be missed dearly.

Words cannot describe the amount of life she gave off to those who would surround her but those who knew her will always remember the great amount of joy they received from every moment spent near her.

She will hold a special place in our hearts as we were all a part of hers.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her father, L.T. Folks Sr; and also her sister, Aqua Folks.  She is survived by her mother, Mary Lue Folks; 2 sisters, LaShella Folks & Nicole Folks; 4 brothers, Mickey Johnson, L.T. Folks Jr, Cleveland Folks & Terrell Folks; her sister-in-law, Veronica Perez; and her nieces & nephews, Brittany Huckaby, Porsha Folks, Tamyra Folks, Andre Folks, Roger Huckaby Jr, Marcis Folks, Richard Bustos (CJ), Terrell Folks Jr, Stephon Bennett, Jaedyn Humphrey, Ivan Huckaby-Larsen, Jeremiah Huckaby & Jeshua Folks.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:00am at Avenidas Funeral Chapel, located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale.

Please feel free to share your condolences with the family and also your thoughts with friends. Perhaps a short funny moment or cherished time you spent with this loved family member who will sorely be missed and forever remembered.
