Robert (Bobby) Carrizosa Rivera passed away August 31, 2015.
Bobby was born on September 2, 1948 in Globe, Arizona, to Frank and Elisa
Rivera. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife,
Linda, brother Frank, children Laura, Robert (Teresa), Michael (Joan), Michelle
(Todd), 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and
nephews.
Bobby served in the Army during the Vietnam era. Bobby took
an early retirement from APS, then drove over the road. He also rode bulls,
refereed and umpired. He coached his children in Pop Warner, baseball and
softball. He loved watching his grandsons play Pop Warner football and his
granddaughters cheer. He enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing with his children
and grandchildren and wanted to teach his greatgrandsons to hunt and fish.
Bobby had a big heart and would lend a helping hand when ever possible. He
loved his family and was loved by many and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 7, 2015 from
4:00pm-7:00pm at Avenidas Funeral Chapel, located at 522 East Western Avenue in
Old Town Avondale, Arizona. Funeral Mass will
take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Fatima,
located at 1418 South 17th Avenue in Phoenix. A procession to his final resting place, Holy
Cross Cemetery, will immediately follow the Mass.

ReplyDeleteBobby and I worked together briefly at the West Phoenix Power Plant sometime in the '80's but Bobby made a lasting impression. He came there as a helper, but was eager to learn and it soon turned out that I became his helper as he would take the tools from my hands to do the work. I wound up fetching tools and supplies for Bobby while giving minimal direction. He was a genuine pleasure to work with and be around.
We chatted a bit and found we both enjoyed the old time Rock/doo wop tunes and for some reason tunes from the old album "The Paragons meet the Jesters" seemed a favorite. Kinda odd I thought for an Arizona cowboy and myself a recent transplant from the Bronx.
Bobby shared his September 2, 1948 birth date with my younger brother Tom who passed away in 2011.
Rest in Peace.
