Ruth M. Ortiz, 52, of Cashion, passed away on March 16, 2014 in Phoenix, Arizona.  Ruth was born on November 15, 1961 in Phoenix, Arizona to Hubaldo and Elena Bustos.

Ruth is survived by 2 daughters, Brianna Ortiz and Paula Ortiz; 7 sisters, Rebecca Medrano, Renee Carranza, Susanne Bustos, Sandra Salas, Celina Bustos, Irene Bustos, and Felicia Martinez; and 3 brothers, Javier, Robert, and Jeremy Bustos.

Ruth was a loving mother, sister, and tia. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Avenidas Funeral Chapel located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 10:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church located at 539 East La Pasada Boulevard in Goodyear.  Burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery located at 10045 West Thomas Road in Avondale.

Maria Luisa Sanchez, 63, of Avondale, passed away on March 14, 2014 in Phoenix, Arizona.  Maria was born on August 25, 1950 in Jaramuato, Michoacan to Hilario and Maria Calderon.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Holario and Maria Calderon.  She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Armando Sanchez; 2 daughters, Lorena Perez and Alma Sanchez; 2 sons, Armando and Ramiro Sanchez; 5 sisters, Eva, Pera, Julia, Blanca, and Trinidad; 2 brothers, Manuel and Salvador; and 10 grandchildren.

Maria was a breast cancer survivor.  She was a hard worker and a great mother and grandmother.

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, from 10:00am–12:00pm, with a service at 11:00am at Avenidas Funeral Chapel, located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale.  Officiant will be Deacon Jim Cascio.  Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetey located at 2300 West Van Buren Street in Phoenix.

Juan Aguirre, 81, of Avondale, passed away on March 10, 2014 in Chandler, Arizona.  Juan was born on June 24, 1932 in Litchfield Park, Arizona to Jose and Cleotilda Aguirre.
 
Juan was a member of the American Legion Post 61 where he volunteered many community service hours.
 
Juan is preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Aguirre and his parents. Juan is survived by 3 daughters, Irene Owen, Virginia Aguirre, and Elizabeth Aguirre; 1 son, John Aguirre; 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
 
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 14 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at Avenidas Funeral Chapel located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale, with a service at 3:00pm, officiating will be Fr. Paul Ybarra.

Leonard Gallardo Jr, 33, of Goodyear, passed away on March 4, 2014 in Peoria, Arizona. Leonard was born on January 10, 1981 in Phoenix, Arizona to Leonard Sr and Maria Gallardo.

Leonard is survived by his parents, Leonard Sr and Maria Gallardo; 2 brothers, Tony and Michael Gallardo; 2 grandmothers, Manuela Padilla and Manuela Ortiz; and 1 nephew, Tony Gallardo Jr. He was preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Gallardo.

Leonard was everybody’s superhero. He loved Superman and Bone Thugs. He was kindhearted and loving.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11 from 9:00am-10:00am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church located at 539 East La Pasada Boulevard in Goodyear.  Mass will follow the visitation at 10:00am, also at St. John Vianney. Burial will immediately follow Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery located at 10045 West Thomas Road in Avondale.

Andres R. Gonzales, 87, of Avondale, passed away on February 28, 2014 of natural causes in Avondale, Arizona.  Andres was born on February 4, 1927 in Crystal City, Texas to Emeterio and Inocencia Gallegos.



Andres was preceded in death by his parents, Emeterio and Inocencia Gonzales; 5 sisters, Anunciacion, Juanita, Carmen, Lucia, and Jesusa; and 5 brothers, Francisco, Jesus, Jose, Manuel, and Robert.



Andres was a hard worker and he dedicated his life to doing the best with what he had.


A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 5 from 11:00am-1:00pm at New Life Covenant Church located at 541 East Main Street in Avondale, with a service at 12:00pm.  Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery located at 6450 West Northern Avenue in Glendale.

Josie Rodriguez, 69, of Cashion, passed away on February 27, 2014 of natural causes in Tolleson, Arizona.  Josie was born on April 4, 1944 in Poteet, Texas to Albert and Ignacia Gonzales. Josie was a member of St. William Catholic Church in Cashion.

Josie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ignacio Rodriguez, Sr.; 1 daughter, Teresa Garcia (Tim Garcia); 3 sons, Andrew, Ignacio Jr., and Ezequiel Rodriguez; 2 step-sons, Felipe and Enrique Rodriguez; her mother, Ignacia Gonzales; 4 sisters, Molly, Ramona, Sally, and Dolores; 6 brothers, Albert Jr., Ruben, Jesse, Domingo, Harvey and Elias; 3 grandchildren and 7 step-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Rodriguez, her father, Albert Gonzales, and her sister, Alice TreviƱo. 

Josie was a beautiful devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a nurturing sister. 

She loved God and found his love in her many friends. She shared her generosity and her heart with everyone. Josie was close to all her family and her marriage of 44 years was a testament to the strong bonds of family. She was a dedicated homemaker and enjoyed life outside the home at the casino, shopping and traveling. She enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams and players on the Phoenix Suns and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Her love will live on in all those she touched. 

Donations may be sent to Americare Hospice.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at St. William Catholic Church located at 11018 West 3rd Street in Cashion, with a rosary at 6:30pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 7 at 10:00am, also at St. William Catholic Church.  Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Louis B. Hazelton Cemetery located at 23100 West Broadway Road in Buckeye.
