Aurelio R. Ortega, 66, of Buckeye, went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2012. He was born in Jalapa, Zacatecas, Mexico to Jesus and Agripina Ortega on November 30, 1945 and moved to Arizona in 2007 from California. Aurelio was a retired cabinet carpenter. He was a member of the Guadalupanos at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Aurelio is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elmy Ortega; daughters, Lynn and Maribel; sons-in-law, Israel and Troy; sisters, Teresa, Guadalupe, Socorro, and Romelia; brothers, Javier, Jesus, Salvador, and Lucio; and granddaughters, Crystal and Victoria. Aurelio was preceded into death by his parents; Jesus and Agripina Ortega; daughter, Cynthia; and sister, Soledad. Aurelio was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He raised three good girls and family unity was very important to him.

A visitation with rosary will be held at Avenidas Funeral Chapel located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be said at St. William Catholic Church located at 11018 West 3rd Street in Cashion on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 10:00am, officiated by Father Mario Garcia. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Resthaven Park Cemetery located at 6450 West Northern Avenue in Glendale.
