Emilie Nocella, 37, of Glendale passed away on July 28, 2012. She was born on June 5, 1975 in New York to Marion and Gilbert R. Nocella. At an early age Emilie moved to Arizona. After Emilie graduated from Greenway High School, she attended Glendale Community College and ASU where she received an Associate of Arts Degree and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1999. Emilie was viewed as leader by many. Emilie believed that with her extensive experience working with high risk offenders providing counseling, goal direction, and treatment that she could "deliver materials, tools and direction to all groups and ages of people in an effective manner." Emilie loved working with people and had a personality that made her easy to work with. Through out her career she worked for Best Western, Adobe Mountain School, Devereux, and lastly but not least in her heart Maricopa County Juvenile Probation Department. Emilie valued education and a good worth ethic.
Emilie met the love of her life, Ruben Gilstrap, in December 2003. They went on to build a life long friendship and lasting love affair together. Emilie and Ruben decided to become one and on November 17, 2008 they were married in front of family and friends by the honorable Judge Benjamin Norris. Emilie found a house that she had to have in 2010 and because Ruben could never say "NO" to Emilie they purchased the home. Emilie had the house and the love her life but something was still missing. Emilie wanted more than anything to become a mother. Her wish was granted and she was so excited when she found out she was pregnant. On January 10, 2011 Ruben Rocco Gilstrap was born to Emilie and Ruben.
Emilie had the type of personality which made everyone she met feel as if they were her best friend. Everyone will miss her lengthy stories, great personality, her caring heart and her wonderful cooking. On July 28, 2012 Emilie slept away. She will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband, Ruben W. Gilstrap; her son, Ruben Rocco Gilstrap; her mother and father, Marion and Gilbert Nocella, and a host of other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held in celebration of her life on Monday, August 13th at 11:00am at Avenidas Funeral Chapel located at 522 E. Western Ave. Avondale, in the heart of old town Avondale. Please join us in celebration of her wonderful and joyous life.
