Jose Angel Luera, 87, of Avondale, passed away on February 12, 2017, in his home of 54 years in Avondale.  He was born on March 1, 1929 in Millersview, Texas to Ygnacio & Angelita.  Jose moved to Arizona in 1953, and had worked as a farmhand, but retired as a custodian for Avondale Elementary School District.

Jose is preceded in death by his wife, Ofelia Salas Luera; and also 2 sons, Jose Angel Munoz and Patrick Salas Luear.  He is survived by 4 daughters, Diana Daley, Evelyn L. Salcido, Martina L. Quijada & Rosemary L. Vargas; 1 son, Ignacio S. Luera; 4 sisters, Juanita L. Silva, Petra Baltazar, Carmen L. Gutierrez & Virginia Ortega.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 17 from 11:30am-12:30pm at Avenidas Funeral Chapel, located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale.  A Rosary will be recited at 12:30pm.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 17 at 1:30pm at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, located at 539 East LaPasada Boulevard in Goodyear.  Interment will immediately follow the mass at Resthaven Park Cemetery, located at 6450 West Northern Avenue in Glendale.
