Maria Elena, 71, of Buckeye, passed away on May 14, 2014 in Goodyear, Arizona.  Maria was born on March 5, 1943 in Phoenix, Arizona to Ignacio Avila and Juanita Gonzalez.

Maria was a parishioner at St. Henry Catholic Church in Buckeye.

Maria is survived by 4 daughters, Catalina Torres, Felipa Torres, Arnulfa Torres, Maria Torres; 2 sons, Rogelio Torres and Leandro Luna; 3 sisters, Carmen Terrazas, Antonia Torres, and Julia Torres; 4 brothers, Cruz Gonzalez, Juan Torres, Zacarias Torres and Francisco Torres; 27 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Maria was the best mother in the world.  Her children are honored to have had her as a mother.  We know you will be waiting for us in heaven.  Until we are reunited, we will miss you, Mom.

A visitation will be held at Avenidas Funeral Chapel in Old Town Avondale on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. with a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial immediately following at Louis B. Hazelton Cemetery in Buckeye.
