Douglas Russell Nelson, 60, of Avondale, passed away on November 30, 2013 in New River, Arizona.  Douglas was born on June 2, 1953 in Portland, Oregon to Russell and Marian Nelson.

 

Douglas is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia Ann Nelson; 1 daughter, Jennifer Andrews; 1 son, Douglas Nelson II; his mother, Marian Nelson; 2 sisters, Carol Nibblet and Sharleen Bolken, and 4 grandchildren.

 

Douglas was part of the JC’s out of Ripon, CA.  He was also a blood and platelet donor.  Douglas was a scuba diver in his younger years.

 

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 6 from 10:00am-12:00pm, at Avenidas Funeral Chapel located at 522 East Western Avenue in Old Town Avondale, with a service beginning at 11:00am.  Burial will immediately follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn located at 2300 West Van Buren Street in Phoenix.
